Using Project Board Views in Hypertasks

Project Board Views allow you to save and quickly switch between different board layouts, filters, and settings. This feature helps you maintain multiple perspectives of your project without needing to manually adjust filters each time.

What Are Project Board Views?

Project Board Views save combinations of:

  • Applied filters

  • Column configurations

  • Sorting preferences

  • Other board customizations

Each view can be personal (only visible to you) or shared with your entire team.

Creating a Project Board View

  1. Set up your board with your preferred filters and layout:

    • Use Shift + F to apply filters

    • Arrange columns as needed

    • Set sorting preferences with Shift + S

  2. Save your configuration:

    • Press Shift + V to open the save view dialog

    • Enter a descriptive name for your view

    • Choose whether the view is private or shared with the team

    • Click "Save" or press Enter

Switching Between Views

You can switch between your saved views in two ways:

Using Keyboard Shortcuts

  1. Press G then V to open the view selector

  2. Use arrow keys to navigate to your desired view

  3. Press Enter to apply the selected view

Using Mouse

  1. Click the Views icon or the board title in the board header

  2. Select your desired view from the dropdown menu

When a custom view is active, a blue view icon will appear in the header to indicate you're not viewing the default board layout.

Managing Your Views


To manage existing views:

  1. Press G then V to open the view selector

  2. Click the "Manage Views" option

  3. From here you can:

    • Rename views

    • Delete views

    • Change privacy settings

    • Reorder views

Returning to Default View

To exit a custom view and return to the default board:

  1. Press G then V to open the view selector

  2. Select "Default View" or press Esc

Practical Examples

Here are some useful view configurations to consider:

My Tasks View

  • Filter: Tasks assigned to me

  • Sort: By priority and due date

Upcoming Deadlines View

  • Filter: Tasks with due dates in the next week

  • Sort: By due date

Unread Notifications View

  • Filter: Tasks with unread notifications

  • Sort: By most recent notification

Team Progress View

  • Filter: Tasks in progress

  • Group: By assignee

Tips for Effective View Management

  1. Use descriptive names that clearly indicate the purpose of each view

  2. Consider creating standard views for your team to ensure everyone has access to important perspectives

  3. Regularly review and clean up unused views

  4. Create specific views for different meetings or review sessions
